Iceskateers Elite are the current Australian Junior Champions. They are
also the only Australian Junior team to have won a medal at an ISU
International Competition by winning the Silver Medal at the 2011 Zagreb
Snow Flakes Trophy in Zagreb Croatia.
Iceskateers Elite was formed in 2003 competing in the Queensland
Synchronized Skating Club competition that year where they placed 3rd, and
competed for the first time at States and Nationals in 2004. During it’s
short career this team has had phenomenal success whilst competing in one of
the largest sync divisions in the Australian Championships. They won the
Australian Junior Synchronized Skating Championship in 2006 and Silver
Medallists in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Travelling to NZ Nationals in 2004
they won the Junior Synchronized Skating event. They were also the
Queensland Junior Synchronized Skating Champions 2005-2007 and Silver
Medallists in 2004,
2008 and 2009 and
the Queensland Sync Clubs Junior Champions 2004-2007.
The goal for the Junior team when it was originally formed was to extend
the ability and further develop the most advanced Novice team members due to
the fact that the Novice Division itself from 2003 no longer had a short
program. Elite has not only achieved this goal but it has gone on to become
a successful team in its own right and a team for skaters to move up to in
our club when they are too old for Iceskateers.
Junior teams who have represented our Club at States & Nationals
–
- Esprit de Corps was formed in 1993. This was the first year of a
Junior Synchronized Division at States & Nationals. Esprit team placed
3rd at Nationals in 1993 and went on to win this division from
1994-1996.
- After Nationals in 1996 most of our Junior skaters moved up to the
Senior team and we did not have a junior team again until 2002 when Ice
Energy represented our club and placed 4th at Nationals.
- In 2003 our current junior team Iceskateers Elite was formed. This
was almost a totally new junior team.
