Icicles MONSTERS Inc. 2007
Each Icicles team are Aussie Skate Division 1 Gold medallists
Due to large numbers in the Icicles team and the fact that at this level
Aussie Skate teams consist of only 4 to 7 skaters, last season our Icicles
competed in 2 teams. This meant that at each Aussie Skate competition they
competed against each other and happily it seemed our younger Icicle team 1
and our older Icicle team 2 took turns winning.
Our Icicles team has a long history in our club. In 1994 the team was
formed in response to requests from Parents, mainly from the younger
siblings of our Iceskateers team. At that stage the team was known as the
Iceskateers Development Team, later to become the Novice Squad and since
2002 the team’s name has been the Icicles. The original goals for the team
were to perform in our Club’s Annual Exhibition Skate and developed skaters
for our Iceskateers team. In 2003 Synchronized Skating Division 1 was
introduced into Aussie Skate competitions enabling this team to compete.
We now also have two higher level Aussie Skate teams for Icicles to move
up to, to continue their development towards joining the Iceskateers.
